There is this old picture by Robert Capa of the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw after the war. It shows a church standing, all else is rubble. Seeing this I thought about the lives that were lived there. There were a great city there, build during centuries. Thousands of people lived there, investing all their creativity and life into creating this place. We are our own worst enemies constantly destroying our creations and our world. Nature will survive in the long run. In ten million years new creatures will roam this world while we may be forgotten. For our own sake we should learn to behave more respectful towards ourselves and our surroundings. -------- The Balances project include four series, Scrap, Open door, Dusk and Night life made during 2007 and 2008. The
pictures contain many small details, and are really not well suited for
web viewing -- they should be seen as large prints. |
